Second Chance Enterprises Incorporated was started in1989 by Peter Jan, Joan McMillan and
Pip Gordon-Lane to provide employment opportunities for people with a psychiatric disability.

Furniture Restoration & Retail Shop
Furniture bought at auctions and garage sales is either repaired, painted or sanded down and
varnished. Customers can also have their own pieces restored.
The Second Chance shop, located in Porirua, is open six days a week selling second hand
furniture and restored furniture from the workshop, at a friendly price.
Shop hours are 10am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday and 10am to 1.30pm on Saturday.
Flea Market
Every Saturday morning from 8am to 11.30am, Second Chance runs a popular flea market of between
fifty and seventy stalls. It attracts many people from the Porirua community.
Stall sites cost $5 for car size and $10 for truck size.
ZooDoo
ZooDoo was founded in New Zealand by Peter Jan over fourteen years ago and
Second Chance has been given the rights to produce ZooDoo on the condition
that all money made goes back to people with disabilities.
We have three branches of ZooDoo, one in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
They involve taking manure from the city zoo’s, saving rate payers thousands
of dollars in dumping fees and, at the same time, employing over sixty people.
The manure is composted and bagged and sold to garden centres and, more
recently, a free home delivery service is available in Wellington, Auckland,
Palmerston North, Nelson and Christchurch.

EndangeredFaeces
These are little elephant's, rhino's, hippo's and giraffes, made from
their own doo, which has been heat sterilised. They are for use on
outdoor pot and container plants and when watered, slowly
dissolve releasing their nutrients.
